Global IT Spend on the Rise
Analyst company Gartner have recently released their annual report on worldwide IT spend which revealed global spending will rise 4.1% in 2013.
It’s predicted that businesses worldwide will spend some $3.8 trillion this year on IT and telecommunications. The spend also covers sales in hardware, software, mobile and enterprise.
Telecom services will account for the largest proportion of the 3.8 trillion, taking up almost 45% of the total figure. This highlights the rising demand for integrated IT and telecom as one service, rather than outsourcing the two separately. Whilst many businesses are looking to reduce costs and increase value, many CIOs are looking to incorporate high level IT contracts which offer a complete package in numerous domains.
With the rising demand for new technology such as cloud computing and wireless voice and data packages, many industries have pulled out all the stops to develop and improve their services.
According to a report by communication regulators Ofcom, the awareness and usage of VoIP significantly increased across the UK in 2012. This is largely due to businesses cutting costs as VoIP makes phone calls much more affordable (sometimes completely free).
